Blue and Gold Banquet Pack 230

Thomas joined a Cub Scout pack last November at his school. In January I was asked to be the Committee Chairman. So I have become more involved than I had planned to. I knew nothing about Cub Scouts, so I have been learning as much as Thomas. So by the time Zachary joins I should have it figured out. The pack is also new. This is their first year together, so we have all had to learn a thing or two. Our first Blue and Gold Banquet was a success. Most of the boys earned their advancement awards, several belt loops were earned and we had a lot of fun.

We had a little entertainment. The boys had fun dancing jigs and du-a-ditty.

That is Thomas on the right with his leg sticking out.

We had a pot luck Mexican buffet. Thomas filled up on tortillas. He kept folding them and creating new designs. We decided to call them Texas' snowflakes.

Thomas earned his Tiger Cub badge and his basketball belt loop. I had the honor of standing up with Thomas, unfortunately I don't own a Cub Scout shirt. I think I will have to buy one soon.

We had a good turn out and the boy's really enjoyed themselves. The parents had fun too.

Zachary's 5th Birthday

Zachary turned 5 today. We lucked out because Cassidy and Thomas were out of school today. Zachary got to plan what he wanted to do. We spent the morning at Sea World. He went on Shamu Express more times than I can count. He can now make it all the way around with his hands in the air.

On the playground waiting for Elmo's 4-D movie. Stewart had not seen it yet. The kids are still a little scared of the air blowing. We rode on a few more kids rides then left. On the way out Thomas was trying to make friends with a squirrel.

Zachary has been talking about Chuck e Cheese for several months. He calls it Chuck e Cheese-its. But instead we took him to Incredible Pizza. Doesn't he look thrilled? Actually he is watching a sports game on the big screen.

Incredible Pizza has lots of video games, go carts and a miniature golf course. We went golfing first under the black lights.

Route 66 was the theme. So we took a ride down the highway along side motorcycles and cars.

Zachary wanted a Power Ranger's birthday. The kids have discovered all the Power Ranger's cartoons. And I mean all of them, there are like 10 different series, Ninjas, Samurais, Mighty Morphin and more. Cassidy wanted to help me decorate the cake this year and I wasn't up to a total decorating frenzy. So I bought the figures and she made the fire. Zachary loved it.

Zachary blowing out his candles. He is officially 5. In our house you don't turn a year older until you blow out your candles.

Jenni's Graduation

Graduation day has finally arrived. Well, commencement exercises have anyway. I actually received my diploma in December 2011. I started my graduate program with the University of Phoenix in July of 2009. I was supposed to finish my degree in April of 2011, but the high school in Germany could not accommodate my student teaching. So I completed my student teaching here in San Antonio at Warren High School. I am actually glad that it worked out this way because I loved my cooperating teacher here. She had some great ideas and made the class fun for the students and myself.

My dad and Suzanne came for a short weekend visit to watch my commencement. The ceremony took place at the Alamodome.

See me down there? I am one of those graduates with a blue hood walking in. I wasn't really sure about walking for graduation, but as soon as I heard the music playing I was glad I did it. I was the only one who received a Master of Arts in Education/ Secondary Teacher Education. And it surprised me that several graduates around me actually thought they would be receiving their diploma today. I just chuckled.

I was so positive the kids were quietly watching all the graduates walk across the stage and were listening intently to the speakers. Well I did get the quiet part right.

This was my view of the family. They are on the top right in the middle. You can see Zachary's green shirt running down the row of chairs.

This is what the kids were doing after the graduation while trying to find me. Poor Granddaddy.

We didn't expect San Antonio to be so cold, even in February. But with the wind, it was almost freezing.

I have my Master's. Well I actually do. My diploma was mailed to me in January. I am holding the program which does have my name in it.

The plans were to do some sight seeing or walking around San Antonio after the ceremony, but it was just too windy and pretty cold. So instead we went back home. Here is me with my real diploma.

The Dentist

Zachary thinks the dentist is cool. Not only did he get to ride on the special chair. He got a new toothbrush and slap band. Yep, the slap band was the best.
