Thomas' 1st Grade Ceremony

 

Today was Thomas' 1st Grade Achievement Ceremony. This is him getting his Achievement Certificate from Mr. D the principal.

 

Now he is showing off his certificate while waiting for the other classes to get their certificates.

He had a great year, although I think he should have had more checks on his certificate. After all, he was the only 1st grader to play the piano during music class. He played Twinkle Twinkle Little Star and Hot Cross Buns during music class. He also was always a happy student eager and willing to do anything. Mrs. Antuna always told me he was delight and had a great attitude, even when his sister got out of school a week earlier. Anyway, he is great kid and also got all A's.

Cassidy's 5th Grade "Graduation"

Tonight Cassidy's school, Harmony Science Academy is holding their graduation ceremony for the 5th grade. When Cassidy brought home the notification about the graduation, Stewart and I thought it was a bit crazy. I mean really, she didn't graduate from anything. But others have called it a promotion ceremony, but still I didn't buy it. And they wanted money. They required the students to purchase cap and gowns that they could never use again. I even tried to borrow one from a friend whose daughter had purchased on last year. But the school wanted us to purchase new ones, so she wouldn't stand out. They didn't want the red to be from a different dye lot. So instead I took her out to dinner at Furr's. She got to choose where she wanted to go for her celebration of getting straight A's this year. Stewart was in Maryland, so it was just me and the kids.

Just a Saturday

After our softball game today I dropped Cassidy off at Ripley's Believe it or Not downtown San Antonio. She met her Girl Scout troop for an afternoon outing. Since I was already downtown I decided to take the boys to the zoo.

We didn't see many animals, but played in the "river". It was a hot day with nothing to do. The zoo has a fun play area that we have not been to since we moved back to San Antonio. It was a perfect day to play.

 

We outlasted everybody else. I think we spend 3 hours at the beach. I listened to an audio book and played Sudoku.

Keeping Score

For the softball games, the home team had to provide a scorekeeper. One of the other mom's usually kept score for our team, but tonight she couldn't make it. So I kept score. But as you can see I enlisted some help. The boys took turns keeping score. I think they just liked being in the score keepers box.

Thomas lost his first tooth.

 

Thomas lost his first tooth tonight. Well, he didn't lose it. Stewart pulled it out and Thomas put it under his bed. The toothfairy came and he was so excited. He is such a goof ball. I took like 20 pictures of him tonight, most of them were with eyes closed and blurry. I am glad these turned out.

Missions Game

The kids Little League had a fundraiser tonight. So we went to the San Antonio Missions game. It has been along time since we had been to a baseball game and we had fun. It had more meaning for the kids this time too, since they have been playing baseball the last few years. Cassidy kept a close eye on the catcher, while Thomas watched the pitcher and 1st baseman. Zachary kept his eyes on all the batters, waiting for the home-run. We did get two of them as well.

Part of the fundraiser included the chance to walk out onto the field. This is all that came to the game from our teams. It wasn't a big turn out.

We were given strict orders to stay off the dirt. We were watched closely by the stadium ushers. I took my shoes off and walked along the cool, soft grass. I think I liked it more than the kids.

 

 

Stewart came over to take pictures of us. He actually got a picture of me. I am smiling because the grass is tickling my toes.

A tired boy

Zachary always amazes me at where he falls asleep. He just goes and goes, but then crashes. I had gotten out of bed around 11pm to get a drink and this is what I found. I am thinking Zachary had to go to the bathroom. So he went to the bathroom, (the light was on) then he was going to come into our room but never made it. I guess he was too tired to walk the 20 steps it would have taken to get there and instead fell back asleep on the floor of the playroom.

HEB Science Tree House

Luckily my dad and Suzanne were able to spend a few days with us after the conference. So we took them to a place we could all enjoy the Witte Museum. The Science Tree House is part of the museum. Thomas is showing them how it all works.

Yeah our boys are a bit silly. Cassidy is always a sweet girl. We love them all though.

San Antonio Zoo

My parents came into town this week. My dad was attending a medical conference downtown. So Suzanne got to play with our family this week. Stewart and Zachary went to the art museum earlier this week. And today I took Thomas out of school to go to the zoo.

 

Stewart was working at Fort Hood today, so he dropped by the zoo to meet us for lunch. We had a great time. We saw all the animals and even went into the butterfly tent again. It was nice and hot. And the boys were even hotter with all the running around they like to do.
