Legoland

We finally made it to Legoland. It is about an hour from our house, so we packed a lunch and snacks and headed out for the day.

This is Legoland as I remember it. A miniature city of everything. We walked around the Lego city and saw different places all over Germany. The kids liked the buses, boats and trains. Really anything that moved. What really impressed me was the Allianz Arena in München. You would press a button and lights flashed, as if camera flashes were going off. Then you would hear the crowd roar and they had mist spray the spectators to cool them off. It is just incredible all those little Lego people inside the stadium, with cameras, popcorn and bratwurst.















We took an airplane ride. Cassidy was teaching Thomas how it worked. So next time he is on his own.
















So we found a lot of rides Cassidy could go on my herself, but Thomas and Zachary needed an adult. So I am glad both Stewart and I went on this trip. That was we could experience everything. We took a boat trip, you will see Cassidy ducking down trying not to get squirted by the pelican. Zachary had fun, but held on and didn't let go. I couldn't even get him to steer the
boat.





























The last has been waiting for this for the last 8 months. When we first got to Germany, one of our friends told Thomas about a race car school here at Legoland. Thomas never forgot and would always tell people that right now he went to Kindergarten, but he was going to Race Car School after that. Thomas was soooo excited to drive a car. He really liked that Zachary was too small to go and Cassidy was too big to go. The kids put on a safety vest and get in their cars. The crew chief stood in the middle and blew his whistle to start the race. In this first picture is Thomas just itching for the race to start. He made some great inside passes, and maneuvered through traffic very well. It must be all the Super Mario Kart he plays on the Wii. The second picture is him finishing the race first. Something else he is proud of. After the race all the kids take off their vests and are given a driver's licence. He was ecstatic, and wanted me to put it in my purse with mine, so it wouldn't get ruined.




















The kids are ready to joust. Well at least on the Lego horses. They took a ride around the park riding these galloping horses. They also saw a Lego Pirate, Thomas was too scared to go shake his hook. Then Cassidy tried catapulting Stewart over the castle wall.
































Thomas rode on his first real roller coaster (he is in the blue jacket). He was a bit scared as we went down the first big hill, but then said "Whee" the rest of the way. We also found a place to play and build things with Lego's. In this picture the kids are building a tower, then they pressed a button that simulates an earthquake and the tower goes tumbling down. That was their favorite part.

We rode on two Lego Trains. This was as you can see the kids train, but we all went on it. Stewart and Thomas are looking at the mole in the garden. Zachary thought it was pretty cool, but didn't let go of the side. He is new to these kind of rides, he was too little for any of the rides at Sea World when we lived there. The bigger train goes around the whole park, so you can see what you have missed, or what you need to still see.

The kids also did their best paddling canoes. After I showed Thomas how it was done, he tried really, really hard to do it right. He didn't like Cassidy and Zachary catching up to him. Luckily there was a current in the river to keep him going. The parents were required to walk along side the river bed with the younger kids, Stewart kept giving Cassidy and Zachary a push, which is how they caught up with Thomas.

We went on safari. We saw ostrich, monkeys, gorillas, lions and an Elephant spraying water at us. The water was real, the rest was made for Lego's. We went on it twice, didn't want to miss anything. It was a great day to be there, we had no lines and could walk right onto the rides.

Our last ride of the day got us soaked. There were these cool pirate ships that had water guns on them, and you would shoot at other boats or people on shore. I should have got the hint, when I saw a vending machine that sold ponchos as you were getting on the ride. But we went anyway, Stewart opted out of the ride, I thought it was because he didn't want to get wet (I had my rain jacket). But as we came around the first bend in the river, there was Stewart shooting water at us from shore. Thomas was the first in the firing line, he got soaked, then me, Zachary was short enough to be protected from most of the water, but Cassidy was last and got just as wet as Thomas. So we were ready for him around the next corner. I turned Thomas' wheel and he aimed and shot his dad, Cassidy was on her own and got him pretty wet. So by the end of the ride we were all pretty wet.

These contraptions are very cool, they are human dryers. You put in an Euro and these heat lamps turn on to dry you and warm you up. You wouldn't see these in Texas. We didn't use them, the kids were too scared, I had to really beg Cassidy to get in for this picture. They had a whole row of them as you exited the Pirate Ships. If we weren't heading home, we might have used them because we were cold.
