Our trip to Garmish was for scouts. The scouts had scout camp in Garmish this week. Stewart is an assistant scout master and was able to go down for two nights on his days off work. The kids and I tagged along on a Family Fun Pass, two night stay at the Edelweiss Lodge. Today Stewart took off with the scouts on an adventure hike. They originally planned to hike the Zugspitz, which is the highest mountain in Germany. But the weather looked questionable, so they opted for the smaller mountain the Alpspitz. This hike allowed them to get off the mountain by tram quickly if needed.
Incredible views though. I think we saw the same rainbow, but we saw it from the ground up.
Stewart seemed to have a good time on his hike. Meanwhile, I took Cassidy and the boys on a hike around the lodge. Cassidy came down to Garmish for a scouting activity too. She is earning her Adventures in Garmish patch. One of the activities she was to complete was to go on one of the many hikes around the lodge. We found a big meadow and watched para-gliders land. We also named the many of the butterflies in the meadow. Cassidy's Aunt Christine gave her a butterfly matching game several years ago. Cassidy loves it and can name over 15 species of butterflies. When we got back to our room, we had lunch and went swimming. Cassidy wanted to buy a key chain from Garmish. So the kids and I rode a bus into town. We did a little window shopping, but it was raining pretty hard and I didn't bring all the kids rain clothes. We ran from store to store and finally found her a key chain. Then we caught a bus back to the hotel. Stewart came and picked us up and took us to the scout camp. Our little boys showed the "big" boys how to play soccer. We watched Stewart start a fire. And the scouts let us share their spaghetti dinner. It was pretty good, but the garlic bread had way too much garlic. It was a fun evening.
