Our time in Italy was coming to an end. We had to make our way to Switzerland where we would be camping for the next few days. Cinque Terre was sort of on our way, so we stopped in Manarola and walked down into the town. We didn't bother with swim suits, knowing that we had a long drive ahead of us. But we sure enjoyed the view.
It was lunch time and we needed to fuel up the kids for the walk ahead. We had several people talk to us, one was from Boston, another had visited Boston. Then as a man walked past us on the path saying "Go Red Sox" it donned on me that Zachary had a Boston Red Sox baseball had on. I realized where all the interest about Boston had come from. Zachary had received that hat at a free baseball clinic Cassidy had attended.
We didn't make it to all five cities, but we did walk along La Via dell'Amore or Lovers' Lane.
There seemed to be a reoccurring theme with the lock. We first saw them at Juliet's home, and we saw them all along the fences on our walk here.
Cassidy felt right at home with all the cactus. She thought she was back in Texas.
Our trip to the library paid off. We cleaned them out of their Eye Spy books. I think we had five different ones. Zachary found the items in his book and turned to his Leapster for entertainment.
We had an awesome drive through Switzerland. It was a high mountain pass. The kids were very excited to see the snow. It was getting late and Stewart didn't want to drive down this road in the dark, so we didn't stop. I thought that was a good decision, I didn't really want him driving in the dark, on a narrow winding road that dropped off on one side and didn't have guard rails.
