Pisa and the beach

We locked up the Petty's house and made our way across Italy to Camp Darby. We made a day trip to Pisa. Can you tell how hot it is? We were all melting. We walked around and finally found some shade for a snack.

We had to stop for the traditional Pisa pictures. And force the kids to hold up the leaning tower.

Well we couldn't get Zachary to cooperate. This is the best we could get.

We decided not to make the trip to the top of the tower. We didn't have reservations and the boys weren't allowed up anyway. To be honest, it was just too hot.

We found a way to cool off though. We went back to our room for lunch then off to the beach. Cassidy remembers the beach in Texas, but the boys didn't. So this was really their first time at the ocean. They eased into the water. They thought the sand felt funny between their toes, and loved the water running across their feet.

The boys took it a little at a time, while Cassidy dove right in. I spent all my time in the water. Once the boys got in they didn't want to get out. Ok, they did spend some time making castles and moats. They also buried each others legs, that is all they could stand to have buried.
